The UN-ISLAMIC – Islamic State (ISIS) of Abu Bakr Al-Baghdadi

The Islamic State (ISIS) as self-declared and proclaimed into existence in the summer of 2014 has and continues to propagate violence and aggression with horrific impact on loss of human life.  If also fundamentally decries and blasphemes the very principals of a religion it hails to represent.

The Islamic State formally declared its creation at the end of June 2014, the beginning of the Islamic month of Ramadan. Ramadan has been much noted and explained as a holy month in the Islamic calendar – being the month historically recognized as the month the revelation of the Muslim holy book, the Quran were revealed to the Prophet Mohammed.   The declaration by the Islamic state to coincide with this specific month and date was intended for effect.

The declaration establish by self-serving proclamation a Caliphate – a political order integrated with religious doctrine. There have been caliphates in history the last such caliphate administration was in the Ottoman Empire.  Previous Caliphates existed throughout the first few centuries of Islam’s emergence as a formidable social, religious, and educational force that was from time to time further propelled by military action of the time.  The military actions historically were governed under rules of engagement and were not the acts of terror experienced in the last one and half decades since 9/11 (2001).   Each event or incident of acts of unwarranted violence being experienced today is the culmination of reactions of other actions or reactions triggered by prior events.  AND more importantly the prevalence of ignorance over rational prudent assessment and thought.

Loss of life or interests of yesterday does not justify loss of life today – under any tenet.

In this series we will examine and reflect on historical facts analyze and asses their impact and provide reasonable conjecture on expectations of the future.

The new caliphate of our time – Islamic State released their proclamation of self-determination through their spokesman Abu Muhammad Al-Adnani via an online audio broadcast.  In days of this broadcast the head of the caliphate announced himself with the name of Abu Bakr Al-Husayni Al-Qurayshi Al-Baghdadi.  The immediate territorial claims were parts of Iraq and all of Syria up to including the Mediterranean coast line.

The U.S. Department of Justice identified Abu-Bakr Al-Baghdadi as person in alignment and in following of the late Osama Bin Laden’s precepts – indeed the man in charge for Bin Laden in Iraq.  The U.S has a reward of 10 Million USD for the capture of Abu-Bakr Al-Baghdadi.   Abu-Bakr Al-Baghdadi, now has added several names and titles to his personage that include “Caliph Ibrahim”  as well as aliases to his name to provide an air of historical importance, like the name “Al-Quraysh”, a name connected to the tribe from which the prophet Mohammed drew his roots and identity.

The association inferred to the Prophet Mohammed’s family is repugnant from many points of fact and perception.  Abu-Bakr Al-Baghdadi’s actions are in direct discourse to the Prophet Mohammed’s deeds and actions in his own lifetime and certainly not in conformance or compliance to the Islamic religion.   Recorded history confirms that Abu-Bakr Al-Baghdadi acts are not in accordance with the principals of human conduct articulated and promoted by the Prophet Mohammed.

Mohammed was the architect of the Constitution of Medina.  This Constitution crafted by Mohammed was a formal agreement between Mohammed and all the prominent families, community interest and religious communities in Medina that included Muslim, Christian, Jews and pagan.  This one document not only made the peace between conflicting interest in one community but it also gave recognition to Mohammed and the followers of the religion he introduced – the Muslims. The constitution succeed in bringing resolve to intra-community strife, inter-tribal discourse and provided for rights, and responsibilities of good community citizenship.  It provided for among other rights and protections religious freedom, security for women, a tax system, judicial system, it even barred violence and weapons.  Politically the constitution established a federation among eight distinct interest groups and the system worked for the lifetime of the Mohammed and successive Caliphates until the leadership of Muawiyah. (In successive articles comparisons in history will present with greater disclosure on the personages)

What we are seeing today in Abu-Bakr Al-Baghdadi’s is the Muawiyah today.

Every action proposed and actioned by Abu-Bakr Al-Baghdadi and his Islamic State is in diametric conflict and opposition to Islam and the Prophet Mohammed’s teaching and examples of conduct.

Abu-Bakr Al-Baghdadi initially stated in clear terms that the immediate intent of the “Islamic State” is to cleanse the territory claimed of all Shia and spiritual Sufi majority in Iraq – making a pure Sunni enclave.  This initial position has since changed for the worst.   Abu-Bakr Al-Baghdadi wants to re-establish a caliphate in Baghdad.  Communities would be completely massacred in whole for failure of compliance to only one interpreted doctrine of faith – that of Abu-Bakr Al-Baghdadi.  Ultimately it would cause such loss of life as to cross boundaries and include non-compliant Sunni’s as well, even the ultra-Wahhabi.  Thus far the Islamic State under Abu-Bakr Al-Baghdadi has destroyed Sunni and Sufi shrines, and dynamited Shia meeting houses, the husseiniyat.  Further destruction of community assets and lives have included the Chaldean Christian and Syrian Orthodox cathedrals in Mosul.  Islamic State is now claiming theological authority over every major region of Muslim population on our world, stretching from as far east as Indonesia to as far west as Africa.

Lives are lost and more lives at peril.  Self-determination, freedom of though and liberties threatened to near extension for failure of compliance or in absence of complacency.  Action undertaken under the banner of Islam, believed by those shrouded in ignorance to be Islam leaves us with few choices.

Without reserve the actions of Abu-Bakr Al-Baghdadi’s are NOT Islamic.  Loss of life is not Islam.  Persecution of Self-Determination is not Islam.  Islam protects under the law – Life , Self Determination, Fundamental Human Rights just as those rights were promulgated in the Constitution of Medina under the authorship of the Prophet Mohammed. .  Every monotheistic faith and its interpretations are protected as is each individual life with equal rights for women, men and the aged.

Information empowers and we must as a race of one humanity seek to drown ignorance and challenge those that feed of ignorance like Abu-Bakr Al-Baghdadi.
